Manual Physical Therapy (MPT) is a broad umbrella term used to classify a variety of hands-on modalities or techniques. These techniques cross paths with other hands-on modalities like massage therapy and some osteopathic practices as well. They each enable the body to return to structural integrity after injury, illness, poor lifestyle choices, habits, posture, and/or movement patterns.

MPT includes and is not limited to soft tissue massage, myofacial release, positional release, deep tissue mobilization, joint mobilization, and various body balancing techniques for ligaments, tendons, bones, muscles, joints, and connective tissue. Visceral manipulation and cranial sacral therapy may also be included in this umbrella when the practitioner has the appropriate additional training in any of these techniques.
